FileHippo adds free update checker.

FileHippo.com recently released their free software update checker. What does this mean to PC users everywhere? Well, now you can quickly, usually within 5 seconds, check to see what software on your computer is out of date. There are other programs out there that do the same thing but did I mention FileHippo’s version is free?! Radarsync has long gone the way of pay for use and they installed a bigger software package that worked in the background and ate up system resources if you weren’t careful. FileHippo’s approach is very simple and does not eat up any system resources in use. Just download and install the software, which doesn’t come with any bloatware, and then launch it whenever you want to check for updates. The software will analyze your computer and send you to a FileHippo website where they list what programs have newer versions available and even what software has beta versions available. The software is even smart enough to recognize whether or not you are running 32 or 64bit and calls up software updates to fit your setup. One great feature is that they not only tell you what software is out of date, but they give you a link to download the update from their file server. The software doesn’t even take control of the download, you get to download straight through your browser which gives you the same experience as if you were at the software creators website and downloading straight from them. My absolutely favorite part about the FileHippo free update check is the Privacy Policy.
“Privacy Policy
The Update Checker will not send any personal information back to FileHippo.com. The only information collected is a list of programs and their versions, along with the operating system details to help with processing. Additionally none of this is linked to your IP address and the logs are deleted after processing. ”
Nothing like a little privacy to make this a great addition to FileHippo’s Update Checker! Hit the link to download the update checker and test drive it yourself.
