Not sure how to go about it. My grandmother died yesterday. Throughout my childhood she was never found without a big grin on her face. She was a strong willed and proud woman. I have so many found memories at her home learning to draw and feeling calm and safe. It was hard to paint how much this moment hurts but as much as those times with my grandma are truly in the past I have grown to know and recognize the effects of age and, at least I hope, maturity. My ability to show my true self with pride and not to succumb to shyness is due to her. I can safely say her presence and the personality that made such an effect on me will be truly missed.
